The Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) and sponsors are pleased to announce the Yilgarn Retrospective, a two-day symposium to be held in Perth on March 30-31, 2015.
This never to be repeated event brings together a group of speakers who were deeply involved in the prolific discovery period 1950-1999 in the Yilgarn Craton during which exploration revealed a world-class endowment in nickel, gold, bauxite and tantalum, and significant iron ore, uranium and base metal deposits. The objective is to look not just at the discoveries, but the influential factors such as corporate support, management style, exploration methodology, and the research cycle that created deposit models which in turn led to further discovery. Importantly, the emphasis is very much on the implications of these factors for future exploration success. Speakers include Roy Woodall, Ron Manners, Jim Ross, Ray Smith, Ray Binns, Phil Playford, Megan Clark, David Groves and 15 more. Ross
